December’s Art of the Month:
“Dance of the Pear Trees”
by Angela Howell
Angela Howell is an avid abstract painter known for a variety of styles, including gestural, textural, and fluid, plus abstract land/water/cityscapes which are strongly influenced by her love of travel. Born in Mason City, Iowa, Howell attended eight schools before she graduated high school in Tennessee a year early with honors. After earning a marketing degree at Middle Tennessee State University, she went on to earn multiple sales awards and top recognition with several Fortune 500 companies. Upon experiencing corporate burn out and suffering a disabling work injury, Angela reinvented herself as an author, speaker, transformation coach and abstract artist. She is the author of the best-selling book, “Finding the Gift: Daily Meditations for Mindfulness.”
Howell paints mostly in acrylics. She intuitively layers her canvas with color, texture, and expressive marks to create works that are evocative of a state of mind, emotion, or intriguing locales. A survivor of anorexia and bulimia, Howell has long been on the road to personal freedom and loves to help others find their way home too. She uses her creative outlets as a means of artistic expression and to share her experiences with the world.
