Where does the Art in your Gallery come from?
We primarily represent local artist in order to support our local community and offer a wide variety of options to our customers. Currently you will see original works from over 45 artists from right here in the Middle Tennessee area! We do also have select art from regional and international artists that are rarely found in our region. We are also happy to contact artists on your behalf!
What does “Conservation” mean and why does it matter?
Acid, UV, and moisture damage are the most pressing dangers to any framed item. When an element is “Conservation Quality” it means that it is designed to protect your valuable from any variety of these elements and keep it in a preserved condition for many, many years. This concept of protection is exceptionally important when it comes to valuable items – whether that value be monetary or sentimental.
Examples of Conservation Quality Framing Include…
-All of our matboards are made of cotton so they are completely Acid-Free, preventing damage called “foxing” from occurring over time. (if you’ve ever seen something turn brown with age and develop little brown spots over time, it is severely acid damaged)
-The glass we use for photographs, art on paper and shadowboxes has a protective coating that prevents 99% of UV rays from penetrating and therefore will keep the item from bleaching out or fading over time.
-We always ensure that your piece will not come in contact with the glass that is meant to protect it. When a piece touches the glass, it runs the risk of sticking to the glass or for moisture buildup to start molding, both of which can usually be considered irreversible damage. We include framing elements like Spacers or Lining the Sides when necessary to protect your valuable from any of this potential damage.
-When framing a textile, the ability to reverse the mounting preserves the integrity of the piece. When we frame items such as jerseys, uniforms, wedding dresses, and more we always hand-sew the fabric to the conservation quality matboard, creating customized forms when needed to help the piece hold its shape. This means that in the event that the piece needed to be removed from the framing elements (a wedding dress being worn by the next generation, for example), we could ensure that the item could be safely removed from the frame without inflicting any damage.
I’d like to get something framed. How much it will cost?
There are dozens of elements that we consider when creating a custom framed piece, therefore there is no way for us to give a general quote for framing. The best way to find out how much it will cost is to bring your piece in to the Gallery and we can look at options together. You do not have to make an appointment for a framing consultation, come in at your convenience and we will work together to create a design that fits your every need.
I want to get something custom printed? How do I determine how it should be printed?
Images to be printed need to be of the highest resolution possible to ensure the best quality finished product. If you have a file, such as a digital photo or raw scan of your artwork that is ready to be printed you can email that file to allaboutartprinting@gmail.com with your full name, contact information, size preference, and what medium you would like to have your image printed on. (Canvas, watercolor paper, luster photo paper, etc) If you are unsure of what print medium is best for your image, we are happy to make suggestions.
If you have a physical image that would need to be scanned, we can do so for you to ensure that we can create the best reproduction possible. In this case, bring your image to the Gallery during normal business hours and we will consult you on the best way to have it printed.
I like a piece of art in the Gallery, but am not sure if it will work in my space. What should I do?
If you are unsure of whether or not the artwork will work for you, the best option would be to take the piece “On Approval” and try it in your space for a few days. This program is valid for artwork and readymade frames, and ensures that you are happy with your purchase before a final sale is made. Simply fill out an On Approval Form and then you can take it home to see if it’s perfect or if we need to keep looking.
I have lots of artwork and photos that I’d like to hang, but I’m not comfortable doing it myself. What should I do?
We can come help you! Our Gallery Assistants are equipped to properly place and hang artwork in private homes – whether the art came from us or not. This service is charged at an hourly rate, so the price is proportionate to the project.
If you are interested in scheduling a Home Hanging Visit, please contact the Gallery at 615-826-9880 or by email at allaboutartgallery@comcast.net. Please be ready to provide how many pieces we will be hanging and an idea of your availability so we can properly set an appointment time for you.
*Please Note: Our Hanging Appointments are filling up fast – please be prepared to schedule your appointment in advance
I’m an artist! How can I show my art in your Gallery?
We’d love to see your work! All Potential Art Submissions need to be made via Email to allaboutartgallery@comcast.net. This email should include photograph examples of available work, along with dimensions, medium, desired retail pricing, a list of existing representation and a brief artist bio. We will determine whether we have available space for new art and if the suggested art would be an adequate addition to our existing collection.
