sue rosado
Hendersonville, Tennessee
Sue’s appreciation for the beauty of nature and loving of animals began as a child growing up in the northern California countryside. Her playground, when weather permitted, was the outdoors. When forced to stay indoors, drawing and coloring were some of her favorite things to do.
She received a BA, Fine Arts, from the Universidad Inter-Americana, in San German, Puerto Rico, majoring in art, in 1972 and remained in Puerto Rico for several years after graduation, painted acrylic landscapes. In 1979, Rosado moved to southern California, where she began working in the garment industry, later bindery, and finally completing a California Teaching Certificate teaching bilingual education. After another move to Oregon in 1989 and completing her Oregon Certificate, she taught second language, Spanish, for several years until retirement in 2006.
After retirement, it seemed natural to begin dabbling, experimenting, and studying art through workshops of nationally renowned artists. Today she lives the winter and early spring in Puerto Rico and the late spring through fall in Tennessee. Each residence is set up with a small art studio where she primarily works in acrylic paints, but also enjoys pens, colored pencils and pastels. Her primary focus when painting has always been on intentional composition and color analysis, and she enjoys painting regional themes, nature, animals and most recently abstracts.
