Mary miller Veazie
Gallatin, Tennessee
Mary Miller Veazie is a Middle Tennessee oil painter specializing in the style of realistic impressionism. She utilizes a strong design framework, beautiful harmonic color, and masterful paint application to create works that are both intriguing and calming at the same time.
Though perhaps best known for her commissioned portraits in oil, Veazie’s subject matter varies greatly from the female form, to chittering birds, to a couple taking a stroll in the rain. Her objective is to convey the spirit and personality of her subjects, while maintaining accurate and convincing likenesses; connecting with the viewer by creating powerfully expressive paintings that become family treasures. Veazie has exhibited in many national and regional group shows. She was juried into the Oil Painters of America Eastern Regional Show in 2013 and 2016, The Cumberland Society Show in 2013, the American Impressionist Society Show in 2012, Woman Painters of the Southeast in 2012, TACA, Penrod and numerous Central South Art Exhibitions sponsored by the Tennessee Art League. Her painting "I've Got Your Back" won best of show at the 2012 Belle Meade Mansion Juried Art Show and she has been published in American Art Collector, Nashville Arts, The Nashville Tennessean, Murfreesboro TN News Journal and Gentry Magazine, Palo Alto. CA.
In addition to painting and raising a family, Veazie teaches art classes with an emphasis on design, technique and color. She finds it extremely rewarding to be able to paint and to share her love of painting with others. When asked about her chosen career Veazie states, “I am blessed to have a profession that gives me great joy.” Veazie’s work can be seen in the permanent collection of Vanderbilt’s Monroe Carrell Children’s Hospital, Middle Tennessee Medical Center, Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, the Brentwood Academy in Tennessee and numerous private collections across the nation.
