Gallatin, Tennessee
Judy Henry has had a life-long interest in drawing and painting. Her first love, creating art, was postponed by a thirty-year career in healthcare finance. After her retirement in 2000, Judy studied with several local artists but the picture was incomplete. In 2016, Judy returned to the University of Louisville to complete her BFA in Fine Arts.
Judy’s final BFA exhibition work explored a study of portraiture in “The Art of the Carravesques”, the portrayal of present-day situations of people doing what they enjoy, depicted in the chiaroscuro style of great 17th century artists, such as Carravaggio, Saracini and Gentileschi.
Since graduation, Judy has enjoyed creating figurative art in oil on canvas for portraiture, pet portraits and places. Some of her commissioned work is on display in locations such as Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan, Hendersonville, TN City Hall. She is also a frequent exhibitor at the Hendersonville Library.
Judy is a member of Monthaven Arts & Cultural Center and a member of Bugg Hollow Plein Aire Painters.
