Watercolorist Cathy Dunn was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania. After a long career teaching mathematics in the Cleveland, Ohio area, Dunn settled just outside of Nashville, Tennessee a few years ago. Discovering her passion for painting after retiring and taking some watercolor painting classes, she is now continuing her formal art education in the classroom and through self-study.

Though she dabbles in many mediums, Dunn’s passion is representational watercolor painting and paintings that tell a story. While her subject matter varies from landscape to portrait and everything in between, Dunn’s style has a calm serenity and vibrant but soft color palette that unifies her body of work and gives the viewer a sense of peace.

Dunn is a member of the Tennessee Watercolor Society and the Watercolor Society of Alabama. Her paintings have been accepted in exhibitions including Light Space & Time, Helvet Art International, the Art Guild of NY and the TnWS 2021 and WSA Online Exhibitions. Her work has been featured and sold in All About Art Gallery in Hendersonville, TN, the Gulf Coast Arts Alliance gallery in Gulf Shores, AL and her community’s annual Art Open Houses. Her paintings can be seen in numerous private collections across the United States.
