About Us
All About Art is proudly family owned and operated by Hendersonville residents Adam and Joy Baker. Originally from Cookeville, Adam moved to Nashville in 2004 to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Illustration and Design. While in college he trained and worked as a print-maker; obtaining a wealth of knowledge on screen printing and archival art printing. After obtaining his degree, Adam continued to work as a freelance artist, designer and printer. He has curated numerous themed art shows featuring the works of Nashville artists as well as his own and has written / illustrated several children's books. It was while Adam was pursuing his degree that he met Joy, a Hendersonville native. Seeing her feeling stagnant in her job, Adam encouraged Joy to do something more creative. Armed with a natural eye for design and a love for art, Joy began her career at All About Art in 2008 as a gallery curator/designer.
Where it Began
The Gallery was founded in the home of previous owners, Tom and Geralyn Moore. Having been an artist and avid art lover his entire life, it was Tom's dream to one day own an art gallery of his own. Geralyn, a creative person in her own right, grew up watching and learning from her father who owned his own business. Upon retiring from their respective careers working with American Airlines & being a Registered Nurse, Tom and Geralyn opened the first All About Art Gallery retail storefront in 2003. After quickly outgrowing their original location, the Gallery opened in the City Square Shopping Center in 2005 and has continued to flourish since.
Passing the Torch
In 2013 when Tom and Geralyn decided to retire (again), they approached Adam and Joy with the prospect of becoming gallery owners. After building the business from the ground up, they were not willing to sell their life's dream to just anyone. For the next year and a half, the four of them worked together to make the transition gradual and in January of 2015 Adam and Joy officially became the owners of All About Art Gallery. Their first endeavor was to add new artists to the fold and expand gallery services to include printing & digital design.
All About Art Gallery is the result of a lifelong dream brought to fruition. From its humble beginnings in the basement of Tom & Geralyn's family home, to being the artistic hub of the City by the Lake - the gallery has continued to grow and expand, serving Middle Tennessee for more than fifteen years.
Adam & Joy enjoy working and being parents to their sons, Kayson (a sixth grader at Merrol Hyde Magnet School) and Ryman (an adorable baby born March 2022) and their chocolate lab, Koonu (who lounges on his bed all day and is only kind of jealous he’s not the baby anymore).
