One of the most famous living artists, Peter Max is also a pop-culture icon. His bold colors, uplifting images and uncommon artistic diversity have touched almost every phase of American culture and have inspired many generations. Peter was born in Germany , and from the age of one life took him on a journey through places such as China , Tibet , Israel and France before ultimately settling in America . Peter studied under realistic painter, Frank Reilly, at the Art Students League in Manhattan . He has painted for six United States Presidents and his art can be seen on display in Presidential Libraries and in U.S. Embassies, among other established galleries and personal collections. Max has painted Lady Liberty annually since the Bicentennial; a collage of his Liberties recently adorned 145 million Verizon phone books. He was named the official artist of the 2006 Olympics and has been published on numerous occasions, including the best selling art book featuring his own works, “The Art of Peter Max.”
